Red cheeks

Hello

My DD is 7 months old and always appears to have bright red cheeks!

I have written this off as teething until now as she is definitely due some more teeth and has lots of other symptoms such as drool, biting everything, sometime dodgy nappies.

I don't think she has Slapped Cheek Disease either as she has been like this off and on for months and it has never been accompanied by a rash.

Do you think I should go to my GP about it... it is always worse as the day goes on but has gone by the morning. She is not remotely worried about it and the back of her neck is never roasting and she doesn't run a temperature.

I am pretty sure I am worried about nothing but wouldn't mind any comments you may have (sorry PFB syndrome!)

Hey Skillbo x
I would have said teething too.
Have you thought about eczema? DD has it quite badly and it shows up differently on different parts of her body.
She has a 'typical' looking eczema rash on her back that is faint, red, rosy and dry.
She has dry skin on her arms with no rash but then behing both knees her skin is bright red and rosy most of the time which sounds kind of like your DD's cheeks.
We avoid soap in the bath (you can wash with aqueous cream instead) and we put oilatum in the bath too(dont buy it get it prescribed from the gp).
We also put oilatum cream (again on prescription) all over her.
It helps massively all over and it really reduces the redness behind her knees.
If you are worried at all though go to your gp (i have neurotic parent syndrome and am not ashamed! no one knows better than mummy!)
I hope this helps xx

Thanks everso much

DP has quite bad eczema type skin and so it may be that she has inherited something along those lines, poor thing! I hadn't considered that so might take her along for a quick check!

Thanks again!
