Sunken fontanelle - When to worry? HELP!

Hi,

My 3-month-old DS2 just had his second set of injections yesterday. He had a big blowout (very watery stools) about 4 hours ago. And a bit of temp this morning when he woke up and was a little unsettled. Gave him Calpol and he seems fine otherwise. However, I just felt his fontanelle and the dent is quite prominent! TBH, it could have always been there and I've never felt it till now. I've called the HV team to give me a call back. Should I worry? He seems okay otherwise! Thanks.

Ax

I am pretty sure it is nothing to worry about. Have him checked for your own peace of mind & give LO some calpol.

DS1 had quite big fontanelle & it was always sunken - didnt realise that this was not normal till I had DS2.

Sunken fontanell can be sign of dehydration so if you checked it just before a feed then it would be more sunken than if you checked after a feed.

Get an emergency appt with your GP so that he can have a look at it.
He's probably fine, but I know it's hard not to worry
Has he been drinking plenty?

He's just had another very, very watery stool. And had a feed. He's never fed well and suffered from a touch of reflux for a while. He still throws up but once in a few days (as opposed to every day) so he's a little dinky thing! He is feeding normally. I am going to try and give him more feeds today. I hate going to my GP as they are mean and makes us wait ages even if you have a sick baby. Will call NHS Direct now... Thanks!

It's all very well conversing with industry and the media, but how do we tackle things like the 'alarming rise' in gang rape by under 19's and even under 16's?
Report here
Is this a symptom of our overtly sexualised culture and if so how do we reach this age group and spread the equality message?
