Coldsores?

DD3, 18mths, has managed to catch a coldsore from me. I did everything I could to stay away from her but I was giving her a cuddle and she moved her face and tried to give me a kiss. Her lip brushed against mine and now she's got quite a large one just under her bottom lip. Does anyone know of anything that I can treat it with? I wouldn't have thought that conventional treatments would be suitable for someone so young.

Personally as someone who gets them I would take my dd to the docs for the first one and get some prper advice.

I've always thought that you have yo be careful not to get it in your eye, plus as someone who caught it when i was a baby I now have a scare on my chin from where i scrathed them.

I use the patchs now in orde to try and prevent this.

Finally don't feel guilty.

Thanks, you can't help the guilt though can you, think it's part and parcel of being a parent! What are the patches, I've never heard of them before, I very rarely get them, probably once every couple of years, so tend to just leave them be.

if the cold sore goes near her eyes this can cause complications

LoveBeingAMummy · 01/02/2010 09:46

Our DS2 (2.5) has just come out all crusty with what the doc says is herpes. We are devastated as noone else in the family has it, but his after nursery carer had a cold sore last week. Could the transfer have happened this quickly? How often do they recur?

DorotheaPlenticlew · 03/02/2010 09:11

It depends, DS has them all the time now -
he is 2.5. Makes me sad. He also caught from nursery, last year. Hoping they will recur less frequently in future.
