We're going in with ds tomorrow (unless they don't have a bed), expecting to stay for about a week. It's about an hour from home, so we want to stay there, is it possible for parents to stay? Do they get their own room at this age?
We were only told on friday, so hardly any time to prepare, no information as yet!

This is probably a bit late however thought I would add in case anyone else reads.

Yes - we did. DS was 22 months (and I was 20 weeks pregnant still suffering with bad morning sickness - not to be recomended . This was nearly 2 years ago.

It all depends on which ward you are on to how big the wards are. We were on a ward of four but there was also a ward of about 6 opposite.

Of course you are allowed to stay with your two year old! I presume only one of you can stay at night though but DH was there too in the day. Does your DS still sleep in a cot? Mine did and therefore we had the cot as well as the bed - so I got to sleep on the bed. Typically he wanted to sleep in bed with me though . You would also be allowed to sleep in the bed with him if he let you.

I cant remember about our ward - but I know the other wards had big comfy reclining chairs - those big black things in them next to each bed for the parent.

Your DS will be fed all meals - you will not be however. So think about taking snacks etc with you because you wont / cannot leave DS alone. You however can shower etc when he is asleep. There are also a few play rooms for them to use when they are more alert.

The staff are absolutely fantastic there - good luck xx

Food in the 'restaurant' is awful but ask someone to show you Erics (underneath Heathfields) - much better if more expensive

thanks both. the op has been postponed until next thurs now as there weren't any beds available. He still sleeps in a cot so hopefully we'll get a bed too. I am hoping he'll have a single room so we can both stay (we did this last year when he was in singleton) but obviously I can't/won't expect that.
thanks for the info about food - not something I'd thought of and wasn't sure about it.
