The only thing that helped my DDs severe nappy rashes was good old vaseline of all things.

SoupDragon · 23/01/2010 19:05

What creams have you tried already?

thisisyesterday · 23/01/2010 19:09

we usse zinc and castor oil for very sore bottoms

DrivenToDistraction · 23/01/2010 19:09

Metantium(SP?) should clear it up but I'd cool and sooth it with Pixie's tips first.

Poor little sausage

Sprilon spray, it is designed for bed sores. It is amazing stuff it worked when ALL else failed, Best of all you don't have to touch their sore skin to apply it and it's very thin and lets the skin still breath.

We got it on pescription, it's about £7 to buy though.

trace2 · 23/01/2010 19:43

cavilon is brilliant for excoriation but not cheap £14 but you can get it over the counter.

trace2 · 23/01/2010 19:53

cavilon we have that as dd is tube fed and we put round her tummy hole

nellie12 · 23/01/2010 19:54

there you go, put it on her bottom it will work wonders promise!

SleighGirl · 23/01/2010 19:56

yes you can if they have it in stock, worth phoning first.

MrsGokWantsatidyhouse · 23/01/2010 20:44

I second Pixie's suggestion of oats in a sock in the bath. Let her have fun and play for a while, then when she is out and dried try and give her some nappy free time.

sazlocks · 23/01/2010 20:52

the poor love - only other thing worth thinking about is whether it is some sort of fungal nappy rash - can happen after teething. Not sure what your post means with respect to knowing what caused it so my advice might not be relevant ! Sudocrem and the like won't help but Caneston cream will. Is there an out of hours GP service you can take her to in the morning to get looked at if whatever you try tonight doesn't help.

trace2 · 24/01/2010 10:23

thank you all i put cavilon last night , this morning its not great but not worse and she looks more bearable and she letting us change it with not as much screaming.

we used Caneston cream to, she does have problems with her skin and our gp tried every thing, but this is different this time, really it looks raw like a burn

Just a note to say that if she's becoming constipated you should get her to the docs as the watery stuff will be the only poo which can make it through the impacted poo in her bowel. If constipation continues and isn't addressed it can "stretch" the bowel leading to all sorts of problems in the future.

We had the constipation with dd2 and she was on senna for a while (combined with rigourous exercise to get things moving!).

Hope her bum feels better soon.

trace2 · 24/01/2010 10:44

ScottishBoris thank you she is under doctor for her constipation she as marvicol every other day, plus cos dd is disabled a nurse comes out to see her every two weeks, and we been having this trouble with dd since november, we fed up of telling them, its not sorting her out

If she is that constipated, I should think she would need movicol everyday to shift the impaction!

My dd had a movicol for 2 days, did something, but after the effect wore off, she became worse, so had to have an 8 day course. The dr said, for her level of impaction (we weren't even getting runny poos thro) she needed a high initial dose & a maintenance course. But then she was 5.

I hope your dd is better soon!
