Threadworms - how soon after medicine will the itching stop?

I've only just thought about the fact that my almost 4 year old daughter probably has threadworms - we had two weeks of pretty disturbed nights. Anyhow, I'm in the process of trying to give her the Ovex (she's currently refusing) - once she's taken when we hope to have a better nights sleep?? TIA, Karen

I found the effect pretty immediate.

Gave DD ovex (bribed with chocolate!), washed all bedding, showered DD (particular attention to bottom area) and then had no further problems.

Washed our bedding and DS's beding at the same time, as well as all towels.
Washing machine was very busy that day.

While she is sleeping get a torch and check her bottom. I didn't notice any worms after I gave her the medicine.

Thanks! Fingers crossed! Managed to get the medicine down her .... eventually - I've washed all the bedding and towels, and she;s in knickers and clean PJ's. I so want a good nights sleep tonight - time will tell! Thanks for replying, Karen x

Hi we noticed this last Sunday with our ds - never had it before.

Gave Ovex on Monday am and there were still worms present on Monday eve and Tues since then noting - apparently it takes a couple of days.

Dont forget to re-dose 15 days later.

ITs all horrible isnt it.

I havent a clue where he got it from

Hiya - well the docs said she didn't have it - but as I said I gave her the medicine anyhow and we had a few decent nights. However she's now back up again 4/5 times a night saying she wants a wee and needed to wipe her bits so I'm figuring either she did have them and they're back or it's something different. I really don't quite know what to do - I'll obviously give her the meds again next week. Do you think maybe it's thrush although I never see any discharge??

Hope your worms have gone!

Kx

Try vaseline on the bumhole

Kazzabob, she may have a urinary tract infection? May need to go back to GP for urine test.
I hope she feels better soon!

worth checking for a UTI

take a wee sample to the GP
