Which makes me wonder about my communication skills and perhaps assertiveness

DD is not having an asthma attack (I knew this)

She has pleurisy (I did not know this)

Everyone I saw/spoke to kept jumping on the "she has a chest problem, she has asthma; therefore her chest problem is asthma" (NHS direct nurse, out-of-hours doctor, paramedic, 2 ambulance men, GP & finally the A&E doctor

But this lovely DR in A&E actually listened while I explained what I thought was happening & why I was confused and upset; then she listened to DD & then made a diagnosis

Glad you are now happy

Silly isn't it - I guess I must work on my communication skills as I am normally thought to be stroppy assertive

I don't think this is your fault! Work on the skills by all means if you think you should, but still, it is pretty crap that all those people were so happy to jump to the wrong conclusion.

Hope she feels better soon.

The nurse last night thought she was having a panic attack - her breathing was all over the place

The Dr (first name only) was so careful and considerate with DD - then supportive and sympathetic with me

by the time it was all over I just wanted to cry - I am so tired
