Buying Melatonin Off The Internet

My teenage DS has sleep issues but refuses point blank to see a doctor.

He has asked me previously to buy him melatonin - I've said no as it is not available OTC in the UK. It's now come up again and after researching it a bit on the internet, although I'd much much rather he saw a doctor about it - it does look pretty harmless with most reports being quite positive.

What would you do?

id not. id see a gp. its hard to get the dose right tbh, my DS is on it. he was 15 before we found out about it. lack of sleep was having a terrible detrimental affect on his health.

it would really be better to do it all "above board" as it were.

No, absolutely not. There's nothing to say you are not buying a placebo or something that can cause damage to him, he needs to see a doctor to work out if there's anthing causing his symptoms which can be easily treated or investigated.

I advocate him seeing a GP - that's why I said no before. But I can't make him see a GP and this has been going on for months.

Part of me says that, if we were in the US, we would probably just have bought it OTC to try.
