DD's peak flow has dropped - can I talk asthma with someone?

She is 12

She normally has a peak flow of about 250

Since she has been ill (pretty much the whole of last term) it dropped to about 150

She saw the specialist last week and is currently on day 7 of prednisilone

Tonight her peak flow is about 105/110

So she is perky & OK in herself - but should I be seeing the GP again tomorrow? (we saw him on Monday evening)

I have just had 2 ambulance men & a paramedic in

I am fussing

Although the peak flow is low she is not having an asthma attack - & she doesn't really have a chest infection

They left me with Amoxy in case she gets worse over night & some more prednisilone

Not quite sure how I feel tbh

what they said that?

You did the right thing - if someones chest is hurting it must be assessed. If you're worried again dont hesitate to get her in to a&e.

Sometimes paramedics can be right arses with their attitudes ime.

Katymac · 16/01/2010 23:48

No - they said I was right to call them & that I could call them again tonight if she got worse but that atm she was fine

& tbh she had got better since I made the first call when the Nurse persuaded her to have some paracetamol

I think the reason she is ill tonight is a virus & the whole peak flow thing is a red herring & unconnected

OK - completely unsure so I have given her the amoxy & about to give her the extra prednisilone

Not really no

The ambulance guys were great but said she is obviously ill but apart from her peak flow being low her chest is pretty good

Today she is lethargic, grumpy, with chest pain & a low PF

I am at a loss

Oh no! Poor thing, I hope she feels better soon. I hope you're OK too, it must be a relief to finally have her diagnosed though. I know this is MN, but hugs to you both.

We are to go back to the hospital tomorrow - the specialist wants to see her

Hi what was the outcome of all this. Just found your chat on google and would love to hear what happened next. This story sounds just like what is happening to my son of 12 right now.
