What do you mean? Is it like a rash as in eczema?

Any sore throat/fever/headache?

fairysparkle67 · 06/01/2010 20:48

My 5 yr old, has same thing, little lumps and spots under arm pits. GP on Tues said it was some wart thing ( can't rememeber name) that kids get. Nothing can be done, might last up to a year. Nothing to worry about.

OrmIrian · 06/01/2010 20:49

No other symptoms fluffy. Just very sore. Sort of raised red patches - like weird shaped blisters.

It could be a fungal infection? There's loads of sweat pores under the armpits, it's easy for an infection to set in. Probably best to pop to the GP.

OrmIrian · 06/01/2010 20:53

Right. Thanks. Will try to take him tomorrow. Tis bothering him a lot

was going to say fungal infection as well...dh has one in armpits atm...was really irritating (rash, not dh) cream settled it quickly...

give him a separate towel to use for his pits

Try googling moluscum contagiosum - hope it's not them as they last for ages - and you can get them too. Completely untreatable (well, treatment said to be v painful)

ShinyAndNew · 06/01/2010 21:03

When did they appear? Chicken Pox are doing the rounds here. Dd1's started off as a raised, sore lumps on her nether regions. I thought she had just been scratching at herself again, but by the time we got to my mums she was covered in spots.

Dd2's started under her armpits and it took a good few hours for any more to show up.

OrmIrian · 06/01/2010 21:05

THanks everyone. I don't think it's molloscun. DD had that last year and it was different. Chicken pox ? Maybe. I will see GP.

My friend has Shingles which is a set of raised painful dsore under her armpit. So it could possibly be Chicken pox.
Best pop to GP tomorrow.
Hope it isnt anything too nasty or you.

bosch ...molluscum is easy to treat. My son had over 200...you just stab a few with a cocktail stick, dipped in iodine. this triggers off a reaction in some and then a chain reaction starts off. And within a short period of time they disappear. My gp said there was no treatment so i got one of my old dermatolgy books out and it told me what to do. I was so happy with the results and there are no marks either

bosch · 07/01/2010 22:14

alypaly - thanks for that, I will try locate some iodine.

alypaly · 08/01/2010 01:09

its actually the action of the trauma to the molluscum that triggers them to go,but i decided to use iodine as it was an antiseptic. DS1 got teased so much at school as his whole torso was covered in over 200 of the buggers. Not one scar now and they went so quickly after being pricked.
Tell DC to be brave and prick as many as you can as hard as they can stand it and if you can get the tiny little witish plug out of the middle all the better. Dont worry if they go really inflammed just after, this is the trigger

alypaly · 08/01/2010 01:17

have a look under a thread by prettycandles....Omicron used this technique and her DC's disappeared too. Good luck
