Could this be something other than nappy rash? Particularly as DS has been out of nappies for months.

DS never had a problem with nappy rash when he was in nappies, now he is trained though he constantly has a sore arse.

I have been putting nappy cream on and the soreness comes and goes, but never seems to properly go.

Makes me wonder whether it actually isn't nappy rash. It looks quite angry and red, like small blisters. Could it be something like thrush?

I might go to the GP but I hate bothering them for minor ailments.

blisters could indicate thrush yes, esp if it has been going on for a long time

does sound like thrush, you could always go to your hv if they do drop ins or even the baby clinics locally. our hv used to prescribe for thrush. mind you, you can buy it over the counter as well.

Thanks. He's had it on and off for a couple of months, feeling desperately guilty now for not doing anything about it. Mind you, he is very vocal so I'm sure he would have told me if it was causing a lot of distress.

I will get to the GP on Friday when I am off work. I probably have some Canesten in the cupboard, but probably best to get someone medical to have a look at him first.

if its blisters it could be thrush or an ammonia rash.Morhulin cream would be good as a barrier cream. and if that doesnt sort it out,get some daktacort from gp.

Thrush/fungal infections are often linked to zinc deficiency. Just been through this with my ds: when we started adding Zn/B6, his fungal infection has gone (I took some too and my long-standing verucca has at last gone away too!).
Earlier on we tried topical creams but it kept coming back with the vengeance.
