Is anyone going to get tamiflu for flu/swine flu or do you ride it out?

It's quite clear to me now that dd has flu. She started getting ill on Sunday night (woke up with a bad earache) and Monday/Tuesday had a v high temp (as is par for the course with my children - both get stupidly high like 40C+ temps when they are ill).

Anyway, I imagine it's too late for tamiflu but I do feel a bit bad that I didn't clock on sooner that she had it (it was only on Tues afternoon when she started complaining about feeling cold and shivery that I clocked on, doh!) as she has been COMPLETELY wiped out by this - and she's my asthmatic one and her cough is nasty (ds has it too - they both look grey!).

So have people given it to their children?

No, two out of three of my ds have had it, and we decided to ride it out - this was back in June though when Tamiflu meant a visit to your GP. Having said that, they had very high temps - as you say, over 40 - and were shivery and ill for 2 days but definitely much better within the 2 days, so I didn't feel they needed to see a GP - with an underlying issue like asthma I'd be more cautious.

I think you're too late for Tamiflu but would check out with GP for ear infection/chest infection if she still seems unwell now.

thanks mrmellors. Just spoke to a friend of ours whose dd is also ill and she told me the GP has big 'do not come in if you think you have flu' notices everywhere so I'll keep an eye on her and if she's still having problems at the end of the day, I'll give them a ring.
