Soft lump in baby's neck: problem?

Ds3 is 15 months - have just noticed he has a soft lump in his neck, right on the side, below the jawline - about the size of a pea, and when you touch it, it moves around. Do you think this sounds OK? It just feels like a little lump of fat. He's completely well in himself. TIA!

Best get him checked out by GP, but one of my DCs had something similar at the base of his neck. Had a couple of scans, it moved around which was a good sign, and disappeared by itself after a year or two, so some sort of cyst.

Because of where it is, I think there are glands or nodes there, so one might just be swollen or raised, but I'd get him looked at to be on the safe side.

Thanks so much for the advice.

Am not a doctor so get it checked out but my dd and her cousin both regularly (cousin almost permanently) get lumps on side of their necks - they are glands. They move around but can get quite big and can be seen when standing away from them. I was scared witless when i first found it - absolutely terrified. Therefore just posting this in the hope of giving you reassurance until you get it checked.

I think we'll get it checked, I'm pretty sure it's harmless but it would be nice to know for sure - thanks both for the reassurance.

It will just be an enlarged lymph node which is nothing to worry about. See the doctor by all means, but try not to worry.

Thanks atomic, I've got them too at the base of my neck so not too worried
