Calcium in urine?

DS1 (4yo) still has a potty that he uses (as no downstairs toilet and he is very unreliable), over the past week or so DH and I have noticed that when we empty the potty at the end of the day there is a layer of what looks like calcium that is very difficult to clean off.

Is this something that we should be rushing him to the doctors about?

Maybe it is the salts in the urine from where it is evaporating? Maybe it is reacting with the plastic potty? We have kids and dogs and although I never noticed it with the kids pottys (although we did used to empty and wash them out straightaway to avoid pee being inevitably knocked all over the bathroom floor later ...) I do notice that if any of the dogs wee on the floor and it drys out before I notice it then I have to scrub off what looks like a salty residue off the floor.

It probably itsn't anything to worry about but always go with your gut instinct anyway!! As his mum you would know best if he wasnt well.

Ah thanks for your reply; I did wonder if it was just from being left in the potty for a while. I mean we don't leave it for hours or anything, but if he uses it when he gets back from school it doesn't get emptied until after dinner because I'm too busy running around doing other things, and I don't always notice it has anything in it as it is tucked away and the lid is usually closed .

I wish I did have a downstairs toilet.
