hypoplastic enamel on teeth?

My 7 year old has just been told by his dentist that he has hypoplastic problem with his teeth. He has to avoid ALL sugar, at all times, fruit juice, smoothies, dried fruit, anything with preservatives in it, fizzy drinks. Sadly DS' diet is incredibly limited anyway and consists of quite a lot of sweet things (such as honey on pancakes, cereals)

I'm at a bit of a loss what to feed him. I know this is going to force us to be sensible with his food and to ensure he tries new, healthy stuff...but i'm wondering where to start.

I've got some diabetic 'treats' in from Boots and lots of nice rice cakes from health food shop...

any experience or thoughts gratefully recieved!

Thanks

My 8yr old has 3 back teeth which are hypoplastic. We are waiting for them to be removed under sedation or a general anesthetic, due to him keep having toothache and abcesses. Our dentist says the only thing she can do for them because they have started crumbeling is keep painting them with a strong flouride until they are removed and to pray his permenent teeth are not affected when they come through. He does find that they are sensitive to sweet foods and it causes them to hurt.

Which teeth and what kind of hypoplasia? Some kinds are much worse than others.

Could they be painted with plastic/silicone? OUr dd had hers done in Thailand and her big teeth have been done in Switzerland.
