After a very disturbed night with DD, I trot of the Chemsits this afternoon to buy some cough medicine for her.
Me: "Hello, do you have any children's cough medicine, for a dry, night time cough please?"
Sales Lady: "How old is the child?"
Me; "They're 4 and 6."
Sales Lady: "Well, it's NHS advice not to give children cough medicine now, so I advise you give lemon and honey."
Me: "Well, my question is; do you have any children's cough medicine?"
Sales Lady; "No, I don't think we do."
Me: "How about this one?" (Pointing at the Tixylix DRY COUGH - PHOLCODINE- soothes dry coughs 2-10years)
Sales Lady; "Well, maybe, I'll have to check with the pharmasist" Asks pharmasist; "Would this be OK for a 2 year old?"
Me: "They're 4 and 6"
Pharmasist; "Well, it's been proven that it doesn't work very well, so it might be best to give honey and lemon."
Me: honey and lemon didn't work last night, I think we all need a good night's sleep and I'd like to try this."
Pharmasist: "Well, I suppose....."
Sales Lady "That'll be £3.55 pelase."
I've come home and googled, and haven't found any horrifying evidence that pholcodine is the work of the devil.
Why do they have it on display if they don't actually want to sell it to people.
