baby diarrhea

my 5 months old baby has had diarrhea since saturday morning (so for just over 48 hours.)
I have taken her to GP who gave me the powder to keep her hydrated and said to cut out milk completely today.
We started solids 2 weeks ago and gp said to give her carbs instead of todays milk.
She doesn't eat very much solids and im a bit worried she'll go hungry...

so ive started with mashed potato and i have baby rice and banana, any other ideas?
I've just toasted some bread (which she has never had before)
she doesnt seem to like the pwder stuff (diluted in water), the box just says "give one as needed"
any idea how much she is supposed to have/can have?

And any other suggestions welcome, thanks!

up to date advice is to give milk feeds as normal. From NHS direct website:

Continue breastfeeding or bottle-feeding

If you are breastfeeding or bottle-feeding your child and they have diarrhoea, continue if they will still feed (use their normal-strength feed if they are bottle-fed). Rehydration drinks should also be given if necessary.

p.s. it isnt recommended to give wheat based products before 6 months so I'd avoid the bread too.

hi seona, thanks I did look up the advice but had to go to gp because she just wasn't getting better and read somewhere that sometimes the baby gets lactose intolerant after a bout of diarrhea.

Stopping the milk for one day and a half has worked for her, re-introducing it slowly now. Diluted milk works ok, non diluted still gives runny poos.

I mentionned the gluten problem to GP and he said it's fine and I did give her a bit of toasted wholemeal but it's not really convenient anyway so I might as well not risk it to be honest.
She is 25 weeks tomorrow and 6 months next week.
