Every night for the past month dd has woke up a couple of hours after she has gone to sleep absolutly screaming.

She is absolutly petrified shaking and screaming, doesnt know what she is doing, doesnt want you to touch her, she dribbles, her pupils are massive and she rocks in a corner or stands on the floor flapping her arms and stamping, she is petrfied and it is awful to watch and you cant comfort her cos she fights you and screams more.

This lasts about 10 mins then you can coax her on to my knee then can carry her from the room where she calms down after about another 10 mins.

She did used to have episodes like this maybe once every couple of weeks and we put it down to night terrors, but this has been every night now for 4 weeks and i am starting to get concerend.

Any suggestions? Night terrors or fits? Please help it is really distressing to watch

sounds like night terrors to me, but if you're really worried then take her to the GP and get her checked over

It definitely sounds like night terrors to me. My DD used to get them and would do the hysterical shaking, pointing, incoherent ramblings etc.

It was really disturbing to watch.

I would just talk calmly to her, reminding her that she was at home in bed, was safe, that I was with her, she was just having a bad dream etc You get the impression though that they just can't hear anything you're saying.

If you do a search on Night Terrors on here you'll find lots of peoples experiences and some suggestions of what to do/not to do.

Good luck
