Swollen tonsils for five weeks - affecting behaviour?

Hello, my DD (4.5) has had very swollen tonsils for over five weeks now. She is not ill and has been in no pain, but is very tired and her behaviour has deteriorated dramatically. Whereas before she was bubbly and happy, she has become rude, tantrumy, argumentative and tearful.
I have been able to (finally) make an appointment at the GPs for Friday, but was wondering if anyone else had seen this in their own children - no real symptoms except personality change?
Thanks in advance.

when DD has tonsilitis the first symptoms are always lethargy & general crossness. She doesn't ever complain of sore throat but has really bad breath and like you say,has a total change of personality - cries for no reason, shouts, hits her sister....

Thanks bubble - how long does it last for would you say?

With an antibiotic, normally gets better in 4-5 days
Having had tonsilitis as an adult, I can honestly say it makes you feel really rubbish, without having very identifiable symptoms

Apparently she just has REALLY large tonsils and there is nothing wrong with her!
Thanks for your advice anyway.

Both my dcs have very large tonsils too.

I took ds to the gp years ago and was told they were perfectly normal.

It's nearing the end of term, so I think general tiredness and grumpyness is to be expected
