Excessive Dribbling at age 2.3

My DD has been dribbling constantly and excessively since the age of around 7 months - she drenches her clothes within about an half an hour and we only survive by using fab bandana style bibs. I don't think it is teething related as it doesn't stop and start. Finally took her to the doctors and we have now been referred and are being passed around the hospital and subjected to different tests - feel like i have opened a can of worms and nobody seems to know what is wrong. DD is now bothered by being wet and sometimes says her chin is sore and nursery says other children are starting to notice. sorry it's a bit long but wondered if anyone else had any similar experiences/advice?

has she had anyone check out how she moves her tongue. Does she speak well?

My other thought was GERD

I think she does speak quite well for her age - we are waiting for a referral to speech therapist so hopefully they will check that out then. What is GERD? x

Our ds was like this - he turned out to have adenoid problems - he was mouth-breathing and so continually drooling. We kept taking him to doctors and getting nowhere, in the end we got the health visitor to refer him to speech therapy and she heard the way he was breathing and referred him on to ear, nose and throat.
ENT assessed him as having very enlarged tonsils and adenoids - they were removed and the drooling got a bit better, he was still a bit dribbly until he was about 5 though!
One of the other things the speech therapist was looking into was problems with the mouth muscles (oral dyspraxia).

Gerd is gastro oesophageal reflux disease which sometimes causes dribbling in children.
It sounds more like relaxed tongue muscles. Hopefully the speech therapist will spot anything that is not quite right.

Ah - thank you she had reflux as a baby (treated with gaviscon and kind of grew out of it) could be related - i will mention it to the speech therapist when we finally see her!!!!!!

hel79....didnt know she had that when she was little otherwise i would have suggested GERD to start with...although it may be coupled with slighly incompetent muscles...but i would mention it to therapist as it could well be significant.
