DD keeps picking at face, any ideas?

My DD is 4 now, and has discovered the joy of picking at tiny little spots on her lovely little face.

She has lots of scabs all over now, they take about 2 weeks to heal and go away.

She mainly scratches and picks when she's watching TV, eating, and when we're reading to her in bed, also when she's in bed I think she does it too.

I think the spots are maybe whiteheads as I got them when I was little too... I'm worried that she'll scar herself, has anyone any suggestions?

I have looked into scratch mitts but she is too old!

I put sudocrem on at night.

If she would like to stop then maybe socks on her hands at night/watching tv etc.

An oily cream so harder to actually scratch the spots.

Oily cream and socks would maybe work.... what kind would you suggest?

With regard to the oily cream it would depend on your choice of natural or pharmacutical?

can you find her something else to fiddle with while she watches. If you could do a distraction technique for a while, it might give her skin a chance to heal so she was less inclined to pick.
Its always when they're tired/concentrating isn't it Instead of baby mitts. would she wear some kind of 'special' gloves with her favourite character or something on them?

ds did this for a while when he was youngerm mainly at night in his sleep. I ended up putting small plasters over the scabs at night for a couple of nights to let them heal. Obviously not great for daytime though but may help to break the cycle.

I think I don't mind what cream, she does have sensitive skin though.

I think cream and cotton gloves would work - mitts or gloves?

I did try the plasters but, bless her, she got plaster shaped rashes where they'd been!!
