BCG jab in London somewhere other than the arm?

I have a 5 month old baby girl and I am looking into the BCG vaccination for her, but want to avoid having the jab in her upper arm due to worries about scarring. However, I haven't been able to find a Dr who will give her the jab somewhere other than the upper arm. It seems that the reason is just so that the scar indicates she has been vaccinated.

Does anyone know of a Dr in London who will give babies the BCG jab somewhere other than the upper arm? I know I will need to do this privately rather than through the NHS.

Also, if there is a reason beyond "so everyone knows she's been vaccinated" I'd love to hear it!

Thank you!!

I thought it was just done there to maximise absorption of the vax?

I don't know - the answer I have been getting from my health visitor and the nurse at the Portland was "so everyone knows she's vaccinated". And they said they don't know of a medical reason, but surely there must be??
