This is the first time she has properly ill like this so I guess I am being very PFB!

GP diagnosed an ear infection today and said her throat was very red and sore aswell. She has antibiotics to take which we started today.

She has been very off of her food since yesterday and not had much fluids either. She hasnt had a proper wet nappy either IYSWIM.

Is it normal for them to be off food with this? She has had half a packet of Wotsits (the only thing I could tempt her with) and a few mouthfulls of yogurt today. She hasnt had milk since yesterday morning.

Is there anything I can be doing to help her out? We are giving her Calpol to keep her temperature down.

I suppose I am overly worried because she has never been ill like this. Thanks

most children go off there food when they are ill, keep the calpol and the fluids up.

It is a worry when they're "properly" ill for the first time isn't it? Try not to worry though. The antibiotics usually take effect very quickly in little ones. Giving Calpol is a good plan. Try to get her to drink a little bit - even a sip every now and again is better than nothing. Give her anything that she likes to eat - maybe ice cream or something similar to help soothe her throat? I'm sure that within 24 hours she'll be much brighter and you will too !

Hi, my ds2 has an ear infection.(14weeks old )He has been unwell since wednesday. On Friday he started to have green goo coming out of his ear,he is off feeds and very grumpy. He isnt sleeping well either.

The doc wouldnt give anti- biotics due to age and said it will sort itself outand to give calpol. The calpol is now giving him green stools and a poorly tummy.

I totally sympathise, I think its normal to be off food, just keep fluids down her.

Thanks all. She seems a little bit better today and has had a few spoonfulls of yogurt and some juice.

Is it normal for anti biotics to give them diarrhea?? She has had 2 very bad nappies since we started it. I ask because there is also a nasty stomach going around in this area so want to rule that out.

antibiotics can give children funny tummys and loose stools, but i wouldn't want to say if it def is down to the antibiotics, i would just keep an eye on her
