Frequent baby poohs - when to worry?

Hello there

My DS, 4.5 months, has a cold did about 10 poohs yesterday, and has done three already since waking up ? about once every 30 to 60 minutes. He's got a cold ? which I'm hoping explains the frequent poohs ? but other than that doesn't seem ill, and is alert, not dehydrated, and quite normal.

He's breastfed in the day, with a bottle at night. The poohs yesterday were green and slimey, but this morning are curdy and pale - I presume from the formula.

Should I worry?

There was another thread about green poops.

Babies often get green stools when they have colds, my own DS2 has a cold right now and had a big green stinky poo last night. As long as your baby is not displaying any of the emergency signs, is feeding and acting noramally, you could give it a couple of days. These things tend to reslove on thier own, given time. My DS2 had freqeunt green slimy poos for two weeks once and it ended in a load of mucus coming out, then he was fine.

It's not so much the green-ness that worries me, than the frequency.

Already this morning he's done about six.

I'll look out for the emergency signs: is it listlessness, sunken soft spot, dark or no urine, dry skin?

I'm a first time mum. Can you tell?

DD2 had this the other week, did 20 poos a day (i'm not exaggerating), most of them green, some mucousy, some frothy. took her to the doctor who said just to keepfeeding her (she is BF though so not sure if it's the same with formula - checkbut I thought with formula you had to feed them just water for a day or so?? please check that bec I really don't know) - anyway said it was a virus and was normal for poo to last 2 weeks.

But yes, the things to look out for are the sunken fontanelle (sp?), dry skin/mouth, and whether he's happy enough in himself.
hope he feels better soon
