and he's two and a half yo. I feel like such an idiot..has anyone else done this by accident? it happened when out at a cafe today, and I bought it for him absent-mindedly even though I would never give him Ribena normally (it says not recommended for the under 3's).

Is there any lasting damage or am I being daft? Please reassure me because I'm sick with worry about this.

I'm putting pg hormones down to my utter stupidness of not thinking today.

The only utter stupidness going on is for you to be worrying about this at all. It's Ribena, not MDMA

Fruitbatlings · 19/11/2009 13:14

eh? for real?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 19/11/2009 13:16

Concur with Cold.

pg hormones have me worrying about all sorts of things I don't normally worry about.

and just to clarify I'm no longer worried about it.

Ok then.

Not very nive of your DH to say things like that.

I am preg and if I wasn't for Ribena I would have crippling dehydration headaches all the time. I never drink anything anyway tbh (I never feel thirsty and never have - mother took me to Docs as a child and he advised her to 'make me drink' ) and when preg this causes headaches that go on all day which paracetamol doesn't touch.

All suash used to make me throw up, apart from Ribena, which didn't help. Now it is the only squash I like.

I have a bottle of the evil stuff here actually, the full sugar one!
For the record, there is no mention at all on the whole bottle about giving it to children. I know cartons are more for children so carry the warning, but you could still pick a bottle up in the supermarket for your kids couldn't you?

Just to doubly ensure you are not worrying!

This has reminded me of well before I had DCs going out for lunch with a friend, her friend, and a friend of the friend (still with me?).
Friend-of-friend had a tiny baby (weeks old I think) and was giving him very dilute ribena in his bottle. My only thought was "that looks disgusting, surely he'd prefer it a bit stronger"

lovechoc · 19/11/2009 13:41

lol @ SPB - now that's a good story!

LOTF - honestly I'm fine, can see the lighter side to it all today.

if you want a vision of the dark side, my one year old is currently enjoying her first onion ring crisp... well at least it's from waitrose. ;-D

oh, and the nicest ribena is lidl's own make, in the opinion of my dh, who loves the stuff. it's only about a quid a bottle for the high juice stuff, lasts for ages.

lovechoc · 19/11/2009 14:13

ooh I love onion rings! think I may have to brave the crappy weather and buy some today...

will try Lidl's own brand next time I'm near one of those stores, DH only drinks Ribena if he drinks any diluting juice it has to be that!
