Our cat has just given our DD 18 month a right nasty scratch

My DD has a scratch about 5 inchs across her forehead, the cat jumped off the table and landed on her on the way down.

Is there anything i should be doing other than cleaning wound and allowing to scab over?

Will it scar?

Is it very deep? Still bleeding? If not it's unlikely to scar. I would use an antiseptic cream on it I think. If it's unusually deep or still bleeding I would consider ringing nhs direct for advice. Your poor DD!

you can get tis called cat scratch I think where thw wound gets all swollen. Maybe have a google and see what you can find or give NHS direct a buzz

jobean....straight to the docs as she can get cat scratch fever which is potentially very dangerous. She may need antibiotics so dont delay.............. please. My son has just done a weeks veterinary training and told me all the details.

I would clean the wound with lots of water, then use antiseptic cream every time you think of it for the next few days.

My dcs have been scratched every now and again all their lives and this treatment has always worked. Cat scratches can bet nasty though, so keep an eye on it.
