I was just bathing my DD when I noticed under her neck is all red,the skin looks raw and painful, almost weeping (the skin and myself)
She is FF and am assuming she has been 'losing' milk when feeding which has caused this.
I have dried it and put sudocrem on and will take her to doctor on monday, but in the meantime wanted to ask has anyone else had this with their babies and what helped???

Basically, while they still have folds of skin there you need to take extra steps to keep the area clean and dry. Giving the neck a wipe at nappy change time and treating with nappy rash cream if it's getting inflamed is a good strategy.

It will be that milk is leaking under, you just need to make sure it's cleaned gently and put cream on as you have been doing it will be better soon, don't worry x

Thank you very much, will keep at it with the sudocrem and see how it is on Monday before I go running to the doctor's,Thanks again x

bepanthen acts as a great barrier against dribble, better than sudocreme imo as more 'oily' and moisture-repellant.

Under the neck is a bugger to get in to isn't it? Don't worry about this, you aren't at fault, it's just one of those things nobody ever tells you! I found sudocreme very good in this situation. You may need to use it under baby's arms as well as that's another bit that can get damp and sticky.

We had the same thing with DD - I washed it with cotton wool and water everyday, dried it carefully. In the early days when it was very raw, I was told to put on Canesten cream (available over the counter - tell the pharmacist it is for a baby to make sure you get the right one) to clear up the worst of it and then once it was 'only' red and not raw/weeping, moved to putting Bepanthen on (which is apparently better than Sudocrem for this). I went to the GP to check this was ok and she said this was the best procedure to follow and that she will grow out of it as she gets more active (lifting head etc). And it is a lot better these days - I still clean it regularly but haven't needed to put the cream on so much.

I found sudocrem good for this as more oily creams seemed to make it moister.

bepanthen is very good and asda sell it in wipes too now.
