Hello, Just wanted to ask a question really as DD (3.5) is looking so very poorly still. In short she was really quite ill last week but only with a roaring and then freezing temp, no sickness etc... and Dr said that he felt that she was fighting an infection but nothing obvious, and it took about 4 days to get over it. DD has then been to have a polio booster jab 2 days ago, which was given after a full history had been given to them and they felt she would be fine to have the jab. Today she looks like death warmed up quite literally. She is white with dark circles under her eyes, and it is really quite extream. I have no experience of poorly kids really and this is the first time she has been poorly in about 2 years and im not sure if my concern about the way she looks is an over reaction or if its something i should be concerned about. Please can anyone guide me?
Thank you

Apart from being white as a sheet, is she ok?

If she is otherwise reasonably healthy (after all she is getting over a virus and an injection all in the same week), I would not worry too much.

Some nice hot veg meals will bring some colour to her cheeks.

Just keep an eye on her. Am sure she will be ok. Plenty of rest.

Take care

Umm, my DS2 was like this a few days ago and now has a throat and chest infection.
Could be that she is about to come down with something, could also be that she is getting over her virus.
Is she eating/sleeping well?
I competely understand your concern, I spent last night on a futon mattress on DS2's floor as his breathing suddenly got really bad, from out of nowhere really. Have been to docs today and have got antibs and an inhaler to open up his chest.

Is she eating normally and active and alert? If so then that is a good sign.

Thank you for the replies. She is quite happy within herself, just tires very quickly. Not eating as much as normal put plenty of milk going down, its just she looks so very bad. I really cant tell you unless you saw her but imagine a ghost with dark eyes and you have an idea!! Very horrible to see really but she doesnt seem to be bothered!

My DD1 has been like this for the past week, she started with a temp last Sunday and has had one whenever her medications run out since.

She too gets tired easily and has some cold symptoms and a cough. Not eating much but reasonably happy in herself as long as her temp is kept down

V V V V pale

I'm slightly lucky in that DH is a GP so he's been checking ears/throat/chest most days and it appears to just be a virus.

There's alot of it going around.

DD2 had a virus like this in July.

She had whole week of raging temps and dark-rimmed eyes on a white face. No other symptoms apart from major lethargy until a mild cough developed at the end.

Luckily for us we left for our holiday in the sun just as she was getting over it so she had got all her colour back and then some by the time we came home.

I hope she perks up soon.

both my girls have been like this for nearly 2 weeks, some nasty bugs around atm

littledawley · 09/09/2010 20:49

It might be worth a trip to your GP - my friend's DD was exactly as you described and they found that she is anemic so has been prescribed iron.

realitychick · 09/09/2010 23:28

I was going to say her symptoms sound anaemic. But also - exactly like a friend's child - pale and tired with purple rings round eyes and drinking loads of milk - turned out she had a lactose intolerance that was making her anaemic. Worth checking out.

Does she eat red meat? It's good for iron levels so spag bol might be a good idea.

hopefully she is full recovered by now Wink
