hello chaps, tell me about impetigo as i think there's a chance that dd has it and i've googled and i am SQUICKED

of course i'm trying not to throw up, lol, but those farking photos! anyhoo, she had a wee spot up near her eye, scratched that, and today was itching at something on her face (i thought she had some paint on it or something but on closer inspection she's got a few teeny blisters near her mouth).
what is it? some ghastly disease of poverty no doubt. it wouldn't happen if i shopped at waitrose.

it's more at the top of her cheek, and hasn't gone crusty. i think it might just have been a spot, it seems to be a normal scab.

and the other wee blisters at the side of her mouth just seem to be wee blisters drying out, no yellow scabs there either.

Did you manage to get in to see a GP? DS1 had it and had the oral anti-bs and it cleared up well. I think we were lucky and caught it early enough. I also talked them into getting cream for DS2 in case he developed any spots over the weekend (like you, it was a Friday). The GP had tried to tell me to keep the two of them apart (they were 34 months and 10 months old at the time - not likely).

My dc have had it too. I was equally at the time but like so many other things to do with children you just deal with it. It's certainlyno reflection on anyone's hygiene - it's so infectious and easy to pick up.

Dc went through a phase of it at pre-school, so I think that was the source of it cos they've never had it since.

Agree with most advice already given.

Keep off school, careful with towels flannels etc and try not to pick at it.

See the doc obviously asap. Tbh I never found the cream they sometimes offer much good.

AB medicine (nasty pink stuff requiring bribery with sweets to take as I recall) zapps it super fast though. It really responds quickly to it though and you can see it shrinking away within a day or so which is a relief.

It's made me fussier than ever about towels. I am almost obsessed with washing them all the blimmin time thanks to our mercifully fleeting brush with impetigo.

i was more concerned about the one near the eye as you said there were blisters near her mouth. I was concerned that it was a cold sore ..the herpes virus which is very dangerous when it gets near the eye. if you think it might be cold sore type problems and this one near the eye goes blistery i would have no hesitation in making a very quick appt with doc.

sorry i missed you. will get the sack if i spend so much time on here. yikes!!!!!!! what did doc say.

doc thinks that it might be impetigo, just caught early before scabs etc, so we've got fucidin. i do hope that will sort it out, it doesn't seem to have got any worse, let's say.

it's just like a graze now, still not any yellow anywhere. i think it's possible that it wasn't impetigo at all, tbh.
