DD has sores on her tongue-hurts to eat.

She's only 15 months so sge can't tell me exactly what the manner is.
She's recovering from a cold and I noticed she wasn't eating much and on closer inspection I noticed some white sored on her tongue. Mum and I thought it was thrush so we took her to the doctors. Doc reckons its a viral infection and a form of cold sore as Ive had them. She can't well though. Gave her yoghurt for breakfast and she cried in pain after one bite. She is slurping those ellas kitchen puree sachets and breastmilk but I'm worried she will starve. Am giving calpol/ibuprofen. Is there anything I can do to help her eat and ease the pain. poor little thing.

Are they mouth ulcers?You could try bonjela along with painkillers.

I think it's thrush tbh as there is a white film. I sometimes think that doctors can get it wrong. Have just read another thread about thrush and she's dribbling. Have given bonjela.

Keep an eye out for blisters on her palms and feet it sounds like she could have and, foot and mouth. The mouth ones always come out first. Ice lollies will help soothe her mouth.

Awhitish coating sounds like thrush.In adults you can use nystatin but you would have to check with pharmacist re children.Natural "live" yoghurt also good.

No, no not at all. It doesnt last long. It's a very common childhood illness.

Poor baby thats really awful id bring her back to doc again if there is no improvement by fri, but if it is trush u can get dactarin oral gel over the counter... And fresh pineapple also kills it and if she could suck on it cold from the fridge it may help ease the pain too. My little boy had trush and i was breastfeeding and the doc said to put the dactarin on my nipples too jus to kill anything if it was there, but rubbing a little expressed milk wud prob do it think myself... Poor baby i really hope she feels better soon

Thanks all. She's happier in herself than she was this morning. I must admit- it does look at hand foot and mouth. Doc wasn't very thorough this morning.

How is she today?

Hiya- shes ok but am going to the docs tomorrow. She had a bit of porridge for breakfast. No lunch but snacked on blackberries and breadsticks.
At tea she was crying with pain. She also dosn't seem as enthusiastic about her food. Normally she follows me into the kitchen begging like a puppy. I am worried but i'm sure the doc will help. Have given painkillers although bonjela seems to hurt her a lot. It's horrid.
She still is laughing and enjoyed a trip to the park.
