Ds2 has just thrown up all over himself and his bed. There was lots of it and it was a dark brown colour so brown i thought he had just had a serious bout of diarrea instead!

I cant think of what made him be sick he has been cleaned up had a small drink of water and put back into his bed (clean obv)and seems tired but fine but it scared the life out of me he was fast asleep and just started chocking on it

Any experience in tthis kind of thing? Am worried as he's never been sick that colour before

That'll teach me have 5 more mins on the net. Could've gone to bed after reading a rather lovely birth story but no..

OP hope your ds is ok. Get a fresh pair of pjs and bed linen ready if it happens in the night you won't want to forage for them then.

Sorry if it's already been mentioned,or you've already done it, but put towns on the pillow and under him....makes clearing up in the night much easier (you can just chuck soiled towles int teh bath untill morning.

DH, of course, would put a wash on, but my sleep is too precious!

Definatly sounds like chocolate coated sick to me, caused by a bug.

Kids..gotta love 'em!

Oh dear I hate to be the voice of doom here but whenever my dc have been sick it has never been just the once. Be prepared for more in the night. Sorry.

Ah crap i went into see him and accidentally woke him up a bit he started whinging and rolling over and tthen he threw up again only a little bit this time i managed to get him over the floor so it only wentt on his pillow.

Was still brown and he had another sip of water and went straightt back to sleep.

Am bloody worried he's going to be sick when i fall asleep. Havnt got anymore sheets or blankets either ]

Yes twas Kathy in the ambulance.

Try towels/tablecloths/your bedcovers folded over.

Only for one night (hopefully)

Really am going to bed now.

Will check in with you in the morning to see how it went.

N night

zippy539 · 06/10/2009 21:58

Def sounds like a tummy bug. Can you make up a makeshift bed for him near you so you can hear him in the night. Use towels as sheets in case he is sick again?

TheWiltedRose · 06/10/2009 22:09

He wont sleep anywhere but his own bed.
Have placed old blanket over pillow (run out of towels) and towel and blanket under him and hes in a sleeping bag because his blanket is sicky. If hes sick again god knows what to do. Mayby he just didntt quite get it all out and its still a one off? (hopefull emoticon)

He'll be fine....I don't do night times with my children...they have to fend for themseves...but i don wake up if they are bieing sick, adn you will to.

Tis a specisl "gift" bestowed upon mothers.

LynetteScavo · 06/10/2009 22:32

I'd get into his bed with him, TBH...it's what I did with DD the other night when she thew up.

girlsyearapart · 07/10/2009 06:34

how did it go then..

yodayoda · 07/10/2009 07:40

hello TheWiltedRose
i had the exact same thing, brown watery bitty vomit that stank to high heaven (well my 2 year old did) we ended up taking him to hospital as he was still vomiting but was half concious......turned out was a virus, but the fact that i was giving him a lots of water each time he was sick, in term was making him vomit even more....7 changes of bed clothes and sheets in 2 hours!!!!! the hospital staff gave me the best bit of advice ever...... instead of overloading an upset tummy with water, they taught me to give 5mls (ish) ir one small sip evey 5 mins, so that baby doent dehydrate but as the amount is so little it wont be thrown back up. it worked a treat for both my children and even if ive got a bug i just have small sipe v often. hope this helps. kindest regards yodayoda, xx

TheWiltedRose · 07/10/2009 13:05

Thanks yoda for the advice will bear in mind next time

So after the 2nd time he went back to sleep and slept through until morning where he was right as rain and seemingly didnt even remember doing it!!

Took him to nursery and told them what had happened and said i was pretty sure it was the food he had had but they told me i cant bring him in til friday anyway because he was sick. I understand why the rules are there but i cant help feeling a bit peeved as thats two days i now have to rearrange when he is absolutely fine. Aw well he IS fine so im not to upset about it and its kind of nice to have him on his own for a change we've had a busy day in town and hes currently watching cartoons and eating lunch!
