Dd has just spent 3 at hospital having methyl Prednisolone pulse drip and we have got to give her weekly injections of methotrexate.
Feel like we have been thrown into the unknown anyone with any experience.
We go back tuesday and the specialist nurse is coming to the house.
We only went to a rumatology appointment wednesday morning and by dinner we were on the ward with dd on a drip

I've no experience at all. It must have been a very hard few days. How long will she need the injections for?

hi alibobins. My dd (age 2) has just been diagnosed with oligoarthristis. She needs to be tested for uvetis as she is at high risk of developing this too.

She has just had steroid injections last night in the hope that this will take the inflammation down and she can walk again. Otherwise she will be offered weekly methotrexate injections.

I know how scary it all is, she's only been diagnosed in the last two weeks and we are still trying to find as much info out as we can.

Have they mentioned arthritis to you? How old is your dd?

alibobins · 11/07/2009 09:23

Dd is 8 nearly 9 she will need the injections for a good few years
The rhumotologist has mentioned JIA but she has no symptoms of this but they said its caused by the same sort of inflamation.

yes, i think its caused by the same antibodies. I thought uveitis was kept under control by steroid eye drops, i didnt realise it would be methotrexate injections. Sorry you are going through this. I have found the arthritis care team a fantastic support. Is there anything similar for uveitis sufferers?

My dd has her eye test next week and will have to be tested every 3 months until she is 16 as she is in the top risk category.

I spoke to gravitygirl from mn the other day as her dd suffers from JIA but she also has uveitis. Ive got her email address and will direct her to this thread.

sory - it wasnt gravitygirl, it was bubblesbabe. I'll direct her to this thread.

alibobins · 11/07/2009 16:15

Thankyou
She has had steroid drops and a steroid injection but they didn't help thats why she got reffered to a rhumotologist but we never expected this outcome
Think dd has got a severe case of uveitis from what the nurse was saying.

How are things now?

alibobins · 26/10/2012 12:40

Dd is now 11 and still struggling with thus horrid illness she now has a portacath fitted on receives her methotrexate as an infusion on the oncology ward along with a new medication called Infliximab she's still got a long journey ahead and they have still found no cause x

You should contact Olivia's Vision (google it)
There is no known cause - shit happens. Sad
DS been on methotrexate for years. Keeps uveitis at bay but needs other stuff for joint inflammation.
There's a brill group on Facebook...something about families and parents of children with JIA. Check it out
