Best place to get them anyone?

I do not think that it really matters where you get children's glasses from. Whether it is a small independent or a large chain eg. Specsavers, they will be given an eye test by a fully qualified optician. My dd wears glasses and we go to the local optician. She pays for her frames, and the NHS pays for her lenses. There are also a small range of NHS frames which she could choose from which are totally free. She selects from the pay range, and her glasses normally cost about £25.

She is nearly 9 and has been wearing glasses since the age of 4. Some children with more complex eye problems go to the hospital. My dd has an astigmatism, but has not needed to see a consultant.

We use two different opticians to buy glasses for DD1. She has amblyopia and strabismus so tests and checks are done at hospital by consultant ophthalmologist who also gives us prescriptions.

We use local optician (who I have used on/off for 10+ years) as service is great and I pop in there every time she twists the frame or pulls off a nose piece! (She is 2.)

Then we get her other pair from specsavers - she is entitled to 2 free pairs. I use national chain just so that, if we are travelling on mainland and have problems with her eyes or patches they have access to her prescription.

Spec savers were the best in my area. Huge range of kids NHS frames. All lenses and frames were included in the prescription.
I found them very helpful and they were great with my 3 year old son who can try anyones patience.

I go to a lovely local place because they are very thorough and endlessly patient with the 'tune-ups' required.

We use Optical Express - just cos that is where I go - and they were fab, had a great range of frames and we got 'Head' one s(therefore trendy in dd1's eyes) which cost £12 over the voucher.
