Any drs around to help me?

8 weeks ago my ds 9 months had a viral infection which came and went.

I noticed he had 2 small lumps on his head and my gp said they were lymph glands and should go within 6 weeks, but they are still there, i am now really worried about them and thinking the worst, he is fine in himself, eating and drinking etc.

Should i take him back to my gp or give it a few more weeks?

Also what would happen next if my gp says they should have gone by now?

I'm not a GP but did have an encounter of the lymph gland kind recently - they can take ages to go especially around the neck and head. Babies skulls are still malleable so move around and that may impede lymphatic drainage.

But if you are worried - just go and see the GP and have him looked at. He may just naturally have a bumpy head! Most people's heads have a fair few bumps on all the time you know?

I'm not a doctor. The lumps at the back of the head are lymph glands, sometimes they do take a while to go back down after an illness, they shouldn't get any bigger though. If your child is now well then they are more then likely to just be inflammed. If it reassures you then do pop him back to the GP, that's what they are there for. GP's will do some blood tests if they are concerned and can sometimes ultrasound them but this depends on where they are.

where are the lumps?

They are on the right hand side of his head inline with his ear iykwim?

behind his ear ~ if so are likely to be lymph nodes i think
doesn't sound too sinister anyway but would like to say although i am medical,am not gp or paediatric so i do not really know a lot!
