Talk to me about nits.

Having a big problem with said creatures. My 8 yr old dd seems to be constantly getting them. I go through her hair every day with the comb and conditioner, have used special treatments, etc etc, seemingly to no avail as a week later they seem to be back. Does anyone else's dc get them with this regularity? A second problem is that she has pretty severe psoriasis so is itchy anyway and has a very scabby head, sometimes bleeding in patches. Doctor has prescribed hydrocortisone but it's really difficult to apply this to the scalp. Not sure if they are associated but the head lice occurrences have upped significantly since the psoriasis began. Any tips for either/both?

By the way, you won't need to use the daily spray for a few days as the scent will be quite strong from your combing and rinsing solutions.

MadHairDay, how is it going? have you had any more trouble and how have you found using the daily spray?

Ok ds has got nits for first time, driving me crazy. The comb doesn't seem to take all the small eggs out, blurgh and yuck.

Solo I am going to order that Nitmix stuff - how many bottles of the wet combing aid do you think would be good? thanks

Can I just throw Hedrin into the ring, please? It has made the thought of nits (free for ages - fingers crossed) much less traumatic for me.

Hedrin info

Hedrin is oily and you can bung it on very easily before bed and then rinse off in the morning. It actually leaves hair very soft (vital with two long-haired DDs!). Boots stock it.

I bought two Marsha and one of the rinsing one I think. Get their comb too, it is much better than the ones I have got before from the shop.

Florence, Nitmix is the most superior lice treatment/repellent ever IMO.

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 08/07/2009 12:01

Hedrin has won my heart as no screaming (from me or DDs involved) as combing very easy owing to fine oil. Does Nitmix do same?

MarshaBrady · 08/07/2009 12:02

Will definitely get the comb, I find even the Nitty Gritty one just passes over some of the eggs yuck. And am doing the same bit of hair over and over.

Think I have spent over £30 so far on nit repulsion, bugger.

Nitmix slides through the tightest curls with no pulling. I did my nieces hair which is thick and curly and she sat there as if I was stroking her head, so yes! yes it's very gentle.

Marsha, I doubt you will regret it and it lasts for ages.
