Hi there

Am in the USA (it's 9.15 pm here) and DD (aged 11 months, weight 8kg) is making a noise I've only heard her or DS makewhen they've just got over crying.

She's gasping - almost as though she is hiccuping every few breaths.

She' has been down for about an hour and a half and it has been going on all the time. I don't normally listen to her sleep but I usually check on her and I've never heard this before.

Different things today - it's 27 degrees in her room but she has 0.5 tog sleeping bag and short sleeve shirt.

She couldn't get to sleep so I fed her several times and then gave her some cows' milk as though maybe she was thirsty because of the heat. She gulped down 3 oz.

Then gave her 3.5 ml Calpol as thought maybe teeth were stopping her.

Thoughts anyone?

Is she struggling to breathe? Has she had cows milk before? If you're worried I'd call the out of hours dr as she's very young still.

Trouble is am in USA ):

She isn't struggling to breathe except when she gasps and has had ice-cream / yoghourt / milk in food though never three oz to drink at a time.

Maybe an intolerance? It's hard to tell really. I wouldn't risk it if she's gasping though, even it it's just on and off, is there anything like nhs direct or out of hours drs there or is just emergency room?

no out of hours. Just ER. HAve woken her up twice and she's fine.

Actually I think she's just snoring. When I pick her up (and she's still asleep),she's breathing fine most of the time.

Could the cow's milk have caused mucus?
