Last night dd was in bed asleep. We smelt smoke like a burning plastic smell. We searched for ages trying to find where it was coming from and finally went into DD's room. The stench was very strong in there and there was a slight cloudyness (is that a word) in her room. I looked out he window and the neighbours had lit a fire and the smoke was billowing in the wind.

DP went out and found they were burning carpets, bin bags and gods knows what else. THey did put out the fire but dd had been breathing in the fumes for at least 20 mins.

She has a cought this morning and her voice indicates a sour throat, however she also has a runny nose so could be a cold. What do I do am I overreacting (please feel free to say so) or should I get her checked out??

if you could smellit it must have been strong, and if the room was cloudy with smoke i'd say it may be best to have her checked over... not sure wether A&E or GP would be best though...

Hi LB

How horrible and irrisponsible of the neighbours

Why not see how she is today? take her out for fresh air maybe drs later if she is still throaty?

sorkycakey · 18/05/2009 10:07

Isn't burning carpet illegal because of the fumes?idiots!
Air the room all day and get her some fresh air I think. If she's no better tomorrow take her to the docs, but I don't know what they could do tbh.
Sorry can't help more.
