Just wondering how you deal with this at this age? Bit worried that DD is going to refuse to let nurse with a needle anywhere near her!

thanks

I'd explain in advance that she needs to have an injection which will hurt a little bit at the time but will stop her feeling ill later. And that you'll be there, and will be holding her the whole time. My dd is very susceptible to bribery - I found the promise of a packet of chocolate buttons worked wonders.

Bribe them with sweets! Let her choose the sweets before she goes and promise them to her after she has it. Tell her it may scratch a bit but she's a big brave girl and can have her sweets after!

Not that i've ever everytime bribed my children in this way for injections

I would do the same. Be matter of fact, explain briefly what will happen, it will hurt a little bit, but it is important to have done.

I told DS he needed the injection to stop him catching some bugs and getting ill, that it would probably hurt for a bit but not for very long, and that we would go and buy some Smarties afterwards...

i told dd1 we were going to go to docs and have jabs
that she would see a lovely nice nurse, and she would just feel a little pinch and then it would be over
i said this would stop her catching nasty bugs, and she could have little treat from shop after

she was fine and didnt cry at all!
