My little boy had a huge area of this behind his knee about 2 years ago. I only knew what it was cause took him to dr about something else and he noticed it.

We got something on line from america which you put on them and it drys them out...we then had to burst them which wasn't very nice but it worked. Can't for the life of me remember what it was called now but it really did work. Must admit I was very very sceptical because you hear all about these things that claim to work but it was actually very good.

I'll have a look and see if I can find out for you what it was called...can completely sympathise because I just wanted them gone as well x

You just need for her to get another (unrelated) infection. Then her body's immune system will kick in to eradicate it and will blitz the molluscum at the same time.

fifitot · 11/05/2009 12:14

Thanks. She has had other infections though and it's not got rid of these.

My daughter (nearly 5) had these spots on her arm a couple of years ago. I remember getting some Fucidin to use on it when they got a bit inflamed. I noticed another crop on her bottom recently, but these were fine and did nothing for ages. Then one of the spots got really inflamed and pus-filled (yuk) and was really bothering her. The GP has given us oral antibiotics this time, and the inflammation has gone down, but he said the molluscum would probably go away by themselves in 18 months or so. I wish they would! If anyone knows the name of the stuff from America, please let me know.

Found it!!! It was called ZYMADERM. If you google it it seems like its now available in the uk. Its about £20 but worth every penny.

Hope that helps and give me a shout if I can help anymore x

COmpletely agree Pesto. My ds had them badly but only for a few months. What got rid of it was getting an infection in his nappy and being prescribed antibiotics. They literally disappeared overnight

frogwatcher · 11/05/2009 18:21

My three dds have all had them. Zymaderm worked a treat for one of them who had a huge cluster on her chest. It is keeping them small on the other two but doesnt appear to be eradicating them like it did dd1. We combined it with oral doses of Thuja tablets - 30c.

cravingchocolate · 11/05/2009 18:39

Can they have this and only have one or two spots? DD has had 2 spots for months now, both with what looks like pus filled heads?

Seona1973 · 11/05/2009 20:03

neither zymaderm or colloidal silver worked on dd's.

cravingchocolate - yes they can have a couple for months and months and then tiny ones may appear round them and that is why it takes so long for them to go away as new ones pop up every so often

I don't think (prepared to be proved wrong) that anything has actually been proved to get rid of molluscum. They are time-limiting, so it's very hard to determine whether they would have gone anyway whether you had put expensive stuff on them or not. Often they get red and pussy and disgusting just before they go - and that it often the time that people get something to put on them - and think it's worked, when they were on their way out anyway. If you see what I mean. They go after anything from 6 months to 2 years if you do nothing.

Seeker-Im usually very very sceptical about things like this especially things which cost that much money but I honestly believe in DS's case it did work. He had them for ages and ages all behind his knees and were spreading rapidly. We (or should I say I because DH was less than impressed that Id spent £20 on a tiny bottle of something lol!) decided to try the zymaderm just in case it did work. Even after a couple of days they looked much much better and I think it took 2-3 weeks for them to go completely. Obviously I realise they could have just gone completely on their own but at that point I was willing to try anything...so may have just been one of the lucky ones!

Thuja was recommended by my pharmacist.... still waiting to see if it works. They can last up to 24 mths and on eGP told me if you squeeze them after a bath when the skin is soft it encourages the body to fight them as it then recognises them as a foreign thing.... bit busy to remember!!
