use conditioner (any kind) and the comb and check all your lo's hair first before using a treatment. They are only supposed to be used if you find live lice as too much use builds up resistance to the chemicals. You can send them to school after treatment - if they have long hair keep it tied back as lice is spread by direct head to head contact.

The best form of treatment by far is a Nitty Gritty brand of comb from Boots or Tesco. Treat them all - preferrably in the same day - and at 3-4 day intervals for the next 2 weeks (sorry).

Oh yes, there is no treatment as good as the Nitty Gritty (which is £10 but you can get on prescription if you ask!!!)

I do my 3 weekly now, as the school seems to be chronically infected! Saturday night - wash hair, then put tea tree conditioner on all 3. Leave overnight. Sunday morning (no joke, as we go to church and it is at 10.30) comb all 3 with the Nitty Gritty (I start about 9am) and then wash again.

I haven't found a live louse for abotu 4 months now - not since I found a few in my own hair and it TOTALLY freaked me out!

Kids hve got used to it

Conditioner and combing - no substitute, and we are avoiding the chemicals that the lice get immune to!
