Ok. Emetophobe here (yes another one) with a toddler who just threw up out of the blue, in the dining room (bleurgh).

Background: He had a sickness bug about 6-8 weeks ago, along with ds1 - it was full on nasty nightmare thing. Been fine since.

The other day he was sucking the cat's water from a sponge that I use for cleaning the kitchen floor

His brother seems Ok though has had a cough lately and this morning ran to the loo saying he felt sick - but nothing happened, and he also did this about a week ago and nothing happened (so I think it is catarrh/ anxiety about school/stuff/ he got in a habit of doing it last time iyswim)

I felt sick this afternoon, which I put down to a combination of hormones, hunger and having eaten about 4 mini kit kats this morning

So...oh and also he slept ALL afternoon, which he doesn't normally, and is teething in a big way the last few days.

So!

Vote a) bug, which means we are all dooooomed

b) eating things he should not

or c) teething (can they do this? It would be great if that was all it is)

Oh and he was in contact with chick pox last week as well, so maybe tis that. (no other signs)

You may press your buzzers...NOW!

actually that is mildly reassuring, the idea of ds1 being struck down again so soon is nightmarish. He is jsut the worst child when he is sick, full on head back and all over the room iykwim. I might put him in the garden in a tent/.

Hello, fellow emetephobe here so can sympathise. Could be absolutely nothing. My DS used to throw up now and again for no apparent reason.

The sleeping thing might mean there's more to it, but unless he does it again in the next hour or so (fingers crossed he doesn't!) then I'd try and not worry too much...

bigchris · 05/05/2009 18:48

agree with mino, sometimes if mine were overtired they would just throw up and then feel fine straight after

tent in the garden is fab idea, even better is tent in garden at grandparents

good luck and fingers crossed

InternationalFlight · 05/05/2009 18:53

Thanks

Well seems fine, no temp or anything, either (which he does usually have when teething, in fact he did the other day - how long do these teeth take!)

also he did eat a kinder egg on the way home from school, obviously that wasn';t such a wise move.

Poor mite. I am bleaching everything in case...

Another emet here... I'd say that as he had a bug 6-8 weeks ago, he'd be very, very unlucky to get another one so soon. Fingers crossed!

InternationalFlight · 05/05/2009 19:02

Thankyou sweetie.

Both of mine were sick (just the once) before being struck down by Chickenpox....

InternationalFlight · 05/05/2009 19:09

Oh dear...well, that could be it then. I'm not too worried as I'd rather they both had it when relatively young...though of course not particularly nice at any age.

It's been almost a week since he was playing with the little girl - does that sound about right? I think it's ten days or two weeks before spots isn';t it?

OP posts:
Fimbo · 05/05/2009 19:11

From memory they threw up a day or so before the spots appeared. Timings sound about right.

InternationalFlight · 05/05/2009 19:16

Ok will get some porridge oats in! Piriton maybe? Have got some aqueous calamine I think.

You are very welcome!

I still have my fingers crossed that it's chickenpox (iyswim!!)

InternationalFlight · 05/05/2009 20:34

yy totally!!

Bloody hell flight. Didn't your ds1 feel ominously sick the other night? I guess nothing came of it?

Am not going to vote I'm afraid . I'd probably guess wrong. Whatever happens sugar YOU probably won't get it yourself. What with being very much older and having stronger immunity.

Thoughts are with you!

InternationalFlight · 05/05/2009 20:56

Possibly Minty. Yes I think that was the other day, can't remember, he keeps doing it - I am so sleep deprived, it all merges into one long day!!!

No he did. How weird, that you can remember and I can't! I'm so tired...well no more episodes thankfully since the one earlier, so hoping it was a one off. He's asleep now

Thanks for the thoughts mate x
