vomiting but no fever..happens straight after food or after a while

so today no food or liquid

no stool problems

but seems very normal and content as can be

throat hurts after vomiting

no fever and no gurmpiness more than usual

at a loss and worried as never vomited this much and never ate/drank this little

Sounds like it could be a bug./

Keep clear Fluids up. As far as food is concerned offer bland non greasy foods. Banana's and dryish toast are good. Limit milk and stick to water/clear juice for a day or two.

he loves milk and have had to give him water b4 bed with him screaming just now

but ate nothing today even though was hungry

what i find strange is that he wants! food and milk but vomits

is that sitll a sign of a bug?

could teething second molars do this???

Stomach bugs are often feverless IME.

Sounds like a bug to me. I wouldn't have thought teething would have caused vomiting.

Sounds like the dreaded vomiting bug which we just had again, twice in 5 weeks!

My DS vomited after eating and liquids for about 24 hours but still wanted to eat/drink since he was hungrey and thristy. We stuck to plain water and dry breadsticks initially. When he kept that down he was allowed rice cakes, then plain pasta etc. We still give milk at bedtime but watered it down or gave skimmed milk. When he got better we slowly introduced plainer food and semi-skimmed milk. By day 2, he is fine.

Also, we never had any temperature either

how odd i thought diarrhoae came with bug not much sign of astool change here - just vpmiting as soon as food touches mouth

slept well enough and can drink but food makes him vomit all the liquids

Doesn't have to.

If the bug is contained within the stomach it will be vomiting only.

If the bug doesn't show until it hits the bowel it will be diahrroea only.

or it can be both!

only vomited once yest so thought better and switched to whole milk last night

woke up no breaky but had whole milk again - not as keen as usual but had it

then had a bit of lunch and not so keen and not so keen on grapes

then milk touched his mouth and vomited again?

could this be a blockage instead of bug?

Same here, only seemed to be confined to yesterday only, touch wood. DS is 2.5. No real fever, lots of vomit, cuddles but doesn't appear to be particularly ill.

He has been breastfeeding pretty constantly which is his usual way of warding off illness. He has been sleeping more too.

bumbly · 25/04/2009 14:22

sshould i give milk?

OP posts:
llareggub · 25/04/2009 14:24

No, I wouldn't. Breastmilk is different I think.

I boiled water yesterday and gave him cool, boiled water. He'll need lots of liquids. DS has been eating today though, so maybe it would be worth giving the NHS DIrect a call if it continues?

ShowOfHands · 25/04/2009 14:24

If he has a gastro bug then avoid milk as much as he loves it. It irritates and starts off the vomitting cycle again.

NHS Direct will chat to you if you want reassurance but it does sound like viral gastroenteritis.

Plain foods for a couple of days, no dairy.

bumbly · 25/04/2009 22:41

why does whole milk induce vomiting and skimmed less so? just dont understand
