oh no the poor thing!

I do hope telly isn't banned - I think you'll be needing cbeebies

Can she go out in a buggy? Bad time of year to be stuck inside...

purplemonkeydishwasher · 23/04/2009 08:23

stickers?

differentID · 23/04/2009 08:34

that's rotten for you both. She's able to sit upright isn't she?
Could you get a small table you can angle over the sofa so that she can sit straight on to a table and do puzzles and stuff?

Nemoandthefishes · 23/04/2009 10:26

hi all
yes she is sitting up and have been and bought an abundance of colouring in and sticker books. She can go in the pram which is a bonus and fits in the car seat aswell especially as I still have to do school and nursery runs for ds and dd1

And you are ?! I would be in despair

Has she got an older sibling's nintendo ds or gameboy she can fiddle with. Ds2 loves to pretend he is a big bot like ds1 and it keeps him amused for ages.

claricebean · 23/04/2009 17:13

Nemo, well done for smiling. The same thing happened to DS when I was 8 months pregnant with DD3. And I was home alone looking after 3 kids as DH was abroad for 8 weeks. Deep sigh. Still, in the end it was a god send - it slowed DS right down at the point when I was really struggling to keep up with him (excrutiating piles too - sorry TMI). Suddenly we could go out to cafes as he was penned in in the pram so no worries about him hurling himself into the road etc. Enjoy it and use it as a chance to put your feet up.

sweetkitty · 23/04/2009 17:14

oh your poor DD2 Nemo and poor you too

Whole load of Disney films?

feetheart · 23/04/2009 17:19

Oh no, really feel for all of you

DS (3.4) broke his leg about 10 weeks ago so I've been there and its not nice to start with.

Is she in a cast? If so this was a Godsend (and a great MN recommendation), only about £11 and it came the next day - DS even went swimming in his

Found the first 2 weeks the hardest as he was in pain, I kept the Calpol/ibuprofen every 2 hours for first 4-5 days and then reduced it (mainly because I would forget!)

He actually didn't want to leave the sofa much at all to start with and really only wanted to watch 'Cars' video. Borrowed keyboard, vtech computer thingie and some big drawing toys from friends.

Be prepared for her to be much more clingy and need you much more than you are used to, also I'm afraid we got a lot of night waking - sorry.

Make absolutely sure you have time for yourself planned in - I really needed some 'head space' as it was emotionally and physically draining and I wasn't pregnant.

I'll think on and see what else I can remember. Feel free to ask anything you want.
Good luck

Thinking of you nemo, give DD2 a big hug from us here.

Anything I can do (send her something etc) let me know xx

Nemoandthefishes · 24/04/2009 08:04

feetheart I love you
We are going on holiday in 5wks and there is a swimming pool at the cottage and was dreading her not being able to go..shall buy one of those things next week. Showering her last night was an experience, DH stripped off and sat in the bath holding her leg out while I washed her hair etc..lol

To be fair to her she has been sleeping still but is just very frustrated although she has mastered a sort of sliding/crawling thing to move around in the house..thankfully we have all laminate flooring so she can slide easily. A lot of her frustration comes from having dd1 around who is only 12mths older and she and dd2 are usually partners in crime and neither can understand why they cant run around together.

How did she do it btw?

My sister had a fratured femur when she was 6 and was in traction for 6 weeks over Christmas.

It was my 4 month old lab puppy that ran into her and broke her leg
