Ds2 sore foot & limping - how long before visit to doctor?

Ds2 (2) hurt his foot yesterday, at first he wouldn't put any weight on it, but then after a while he started walkng.

However he is still limping, but will put weight on it, but not like he would normaly.

It is sore when I touch it and feels hot & swollen.

He isn't in real pain - has been running around playing.

Do I just leave it to see if it improves over the next couple of days?

Still sore and very much limping around but not really bothered too much by it.

Doesn't feel as hot to touch and isn't as tender as it was I think.

Do I take him to doc tomorrow - would they really do anything?

If anyone cares

Take him to the doctor and if it continues (and if doctor just fobs you off) take DS to A&E.

I always think that is better to be told that everything is alright than to leave it and find out later that it was NOT alright (not that I have any idea if your DS's foot is okay or not!)

Better safe than sorry.

Thanks for replying. I think I will take him to the GP tomorrow if it is still bad (wouldn't like to realise over the weekend that he needed to be seen IYSWIM)

I will prob listen to what the doc says because I know that they are very reluctant to X-ray children.

I think it is robably bruised or sprained (didn't see how he did it) but there is a niggling doubt hence my uncertainty whether to get him checked out by a GP.

Not an A&E job IMO (I know we have different opinions on this one; judging by your other thread ) he is "fine in himself" running around, climbing etc.

I think GP would be fine. In meantime I would try to rest the foot which is main focus of treatment anyway - easier said than done with 2 year old but perhaps try not to have him running/climbing trees if possible!

Wallace · 23/04/2009 19:00

you haven't met my ds, shouldbeironing!

He will soon be in bed so hopefully will rest it then. If he is still limping in the morning I will make an appt.

Thanks for asking

He was still limping so I made an appointment, and I was glad I had as he fell on it later and it really hurt. And swelled up again.

The doctor said it isn't broken, just bruised/sprained and to rest it if possible.

hopefully it will be fine soon!

Oi you old fusspot

The doctor mangaed to press all over his foot without him flinching so she says it is unikely there is anything broken.

I will take him back next week if it doesn't get a lot better

Out of interest, what do they do for a broken foot?
