So noticed brown things all over and i mean all over dd scalp today, saw something moving so got knit treatment. We have treated it got about 20 of the big ones out but her scalp is still covered in little brown things - which i can only assume are tiny nits! We have got loads of conditioner on and using the nitty comb and fingers to try and get these brown things but they wont come out. Any ideas, are these nits to ? Please help dd has just fell asleep exhausted with screaming

get a fine metal one like the nitty gritty. poor your dd it is not going to be fun. you are going to have to comb and comb to get teh wee bastards.

dd's screams echoing round a french campsite haunt me to this day!

Niftyblue · 14/04/2009 20:29

Maybe
You have to comb from the root out and wipe the comb over and over again

DD got them and she has ringlets she screamed the whole time it was awfull
Combed with conditioner in

We repeated it every night till we knew she was clear
I`ve started itching now

Get down to tesco and buy some cheap teatree shampoo and conditioner. It is great to put the nits off! The conditioner is also great for when combing.

Keep using it alongside the hedrin stuff for a good few weeks (if not forever!) as the smell deters them from coming back.

Help!!!! My daughter has so many eggs in her hair and I have tried Derbac twice over the last two weeks and the following day the lice were still live so I have washed and conditioned her hair every day over the last week and people keep saying just slide the eggs out but she has shoulder length curly hair and so many of them it is really hard after and hour to get her to keep still to keep going. I am at my wits end and seriously considering cutting it really short. Today the lice were live but all very tiny so im hoping that these are the newly laid ones and that I have got the majority before the start laying. Any advice greatfully recieved.

For nits the only thing I found useful for both my staright haired niece and my curly haired daughter
I have never needed to use "head lice" treatment

BUCKETS of conditioner - cheap basics gear is just fine
slavering it through hair - for the curlies do it in sections

comb through with a wide tooth comb and then in inch segments with the nit comb wiping after every sweep
rinse with a soloution if 4 drops tea tree to about 500 ml water and then wash with shampoo

repeat 3 days later and a further 3 days and after another 3 days if no sign it's ok but keep a daily check on it

I now plait my curlies hair tightly and use olive oil she's not had nits since.

The struggle continues they are back and in mine to yack. We are using the lyclear again tomorrow but am going to start doing the conditioner thing every day sparklingsarah. How long do they usually take to go? Dh has shaved his hair off just in case (if only it were that easy)
