I don't need to be *too* worried about a child swallowing the top of a pen do I ?

Child is nearly 4. The top is the metal bit of one of those push on off pens. It was in a cracker so is very petite.

She'll just poo it out won't she? It doesn't necessitate a call or trip anywhere does it?

Thanks

SHould be absolutely fine if the child is feeling fine.

Dd2 swallowed a clay pig once which was quite a lot bigger than the top of a pen. She was fine (although thought she was dying at the time )

well if you are asking on mumsnet 30 % will say don't worry, 40% will advise you visit a&e and the rest will just take the piss. whereas if you just phoned up nhs direct you will get a professional opinion.

So, only minority say a&e? That's good enough for me

Thanks pointy.

If she's not choking it should be fine.

Tinker · 14/04/2009 19:20

She didn't choke at all. She was crying because I think she was worried that she'd "broken" the pen. She then pointed to her belly button and said she'd been trying to get it out! Will watch this poo. She likes the idea of it turning up again soon

By all means watch the poo but we didn't even notice the pink pig coming out
