I have a horrible nagging feeling, am I being silly?

DTS (5) came down with a sickness bug on Tuesday, dt1 was vomiting for less than a day, dt2 is still vomiting. Last night dt2 was so hot I was worried she would have a convulsion, I have never known my kids to be as hot as she was, medicine only brought it down a little, she is very very sleepy, barely speaks and will not move, I have carried her up and down the stairs today, she has not eaten since tuesday, and not drinking a great deal of water, tho it must be enough as she is going to the toilet, I am staring to get very worried, perhaps she is just weaker than dt1 who has bounced back alot quicker. A doctor just gonna say, keep up the fluids right? But I just have a very un-nerving feeling in the last few hours, I wonht sleep tonight.

We were on holiday but cut it short and arrived home early hours this morning.

Take to GP. We had this with DS2 a few weeks ago, he had got over the initial bug but was still being sick, due to his temp, which was due to his hydration levels.
Just get them checked out, even if you're just told to keep up fluids it'll ease your mind a little.
Also, a tip the GP gave us re dehydration was to weigh them daily at the same time and check how much weight they are losing, then tell the GP if you need to go back, just how much they have lost.

Her temp has been a lot cooler today so thats a good sign I think.

you need medical advice.....if this were one of mine then I would be ringing NHS direct.

Thanks VS, maybe thats it, she is filling her bladder so hopefully she is taking enough fluid, though it takes alot of coaxing to get her to drink.

I should have said, she is not vomiting constantly, only twice today.

If you feel bad phone NHS direct. That's what I have done and would do if I were you.
I would also get a doctor out if I was worried (had one come out at 4am once when DD had huge temprature for hours - they gave her some drugs to get it down, told me that it was fine for me to call and to call again if I wanted to).

Also, aren't almost all mothers over protective and paranoid? I thought it was in the job description.

whoingodsnameami · 10/04/2009 21:43

Thanks, I will call NHS DIRECT AND GET SOME ADVICE.

That's how DS2 went, one day he wasn't sick at all, ate really well, drank well, we thought he was over it but the next day he vomited about 5 times. Was quite worrying at one point but just taking him along to the GP satisfied my fears and the GPs we saw were really nice, always saying they'd prefer to see a child with a virus than miss one with something worse

(I always use the 'Hi, I know it's probably just a virus and the usual keep fluids up, temp down advice but I just wanted to get him/her checked out to make sure that it's nothing more serious' line as soon as I get in there, stops you feeling like an over-protective prat )

Ooops, sorry about caps.

Did you speak to them? Was / is everything ok?

whoingodsnameami · 12/04/2009 12:51

Sorry, forgot to come back to thread, they just gave me some advice, there were no signs of dehydration so they were'nt too concerned. She has finally started eating thid morning, she has had a small bowl of ready break and a slice of ham, its amazing what difference a bit of food makes, she is now much brighter and on the mend.
