Braces - How much roughly would we be talking for private treatment ??

Have just got back from the dentists with Dd2 (9).

Her top teeth stick out alot, causing sores on her lips and her bottom teeth are overcrowded.

The dentist is going to write a referal for her today and said he is going to emphasise that he thinks her case is severe and needs seeing urgently but he said the waiting list is very very long.

He said if I went private she could be seen tommorow. He also explained the difference between the treatment offered.

Dd understands that I don't have the money to go private, as I am a single parent, but I would like to know how much private treatment would be likely to cost.

Does anyone have any idea ?

Minimum £1000.

Thanks, is there a maximum or is it a 'how long is a piece of sting' scenario ?

it's a bit of how long is a piece of string, I don't know anyone who has had ALL the treatment they needed for much under £2k. To get all of dds work done privately the quote was £6.5k - skeletal expansion followed by train tracks & then retainer

Where abouts do you live as it is worth seeing a few different ones and ask for quotes.

OMG

I think I should just forget even looking into it tbh as there is on way I can afford it.

It's such a shame as Dd hates her teeth so much and sick of being bullied over them.

She knows I am doing my best to get her in the system and get them sorted though so I think she will be ok with waiting so long as there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I am in the Midlands by the way.

Will see what happens when we attend her first appointment but we will more than likely have to opt for the nhs treatment.

you are entitled to a 2nd orthodontic opinion on the NHS so it worth be worth asking around in your area to find out who has been happy with their treatment etc and perhaps ringing around to see how long the NHS waiting list is for each practice.
