ds2 is 18 weeks and has had probs since he was born. he has reflux of which he has meds for and is allergic to dairy and on neocate. this week he was in hospital and had cameras down and up him. He eas starved and had 3 wash outs and the last was clear so appeared to have empty stomach. caera down was fine but the paed said when camera went into the stomach she couldnt see anything as his tumy was blocked with sticky green poo. she said it was very strange and that he was constipated (has been pooing fine) so on top of meds giving him docusate *laxative) 2 x a day and have to go back in 4 weeks to hopefully see an improvment. Just want to know if anyone had any exoerience of this?

mad4 - you seem to have lots of worries about your ds2. I've read a couple of your threads.

I had a bowel blockage as a baby - it was an acute problem which required surgery. Apparently I was in alot of pain. I've also had one as an adult - again a lot of pain (worse, for me, than childbirth) and vomitting. I'm sorry - that's not much help to you.

Has ds's reflux been fully diagnosed? I mean by proper testing not just by your GP dismissing his vomiting as reflux. Have the meds made any difference? Some of them can cause odd poo, domperidone for instance as it speeds up the stomach emptying.

dd has very offensive green mucosy stools - she had reflux diagnosed, which she did have but it wasn't her major issue, they ummed and ahhed about lactose intolerance and they were also concerned about cystic fibrosis as children with that can also have bowel problems and mucosy poo.

Hope they get to the bottom of your sons problems soon.

yes he had a barium swallow at about 8 weeks as ds1 had it badly as a baby too. domperidone helps as it helps him to burp. before he started it he couldnt burp. He is 'thriving' as always which kind of doesnt help being taken seriously (until this week) im just concerned what could have caused this as the paed said was very strange. He gets awful tummy ache amd screws himself up into a ball

A friend's new born was vomiting and it was a green tinged liquid. They suspected reflux but it wasn't working so gave her a scan and found bowel was blocked. Had an op and now fine but had been in lots of pain. Ask for a scan or second opinion. Baby shouldn't have to put up with such pain.

thanks so much for replying was starting to get a bit

Any idea what causes a blockage? He doesnt feed at all well. Even though he is hungry he takes a few mouthfuls and as it hits his tummy he ends up in pain (i dont believe this to be the reflux from experience) and then a feed can take an hour as you have to keep stopping, let him have a break then try again, as if he is already full?

Just their biology I think. If is a blockage he will need an op. I would go back before 4 weeks if he is clearly in pain.

hes on docusol 5mls x 3 and he is still going going once a day!
