DS is 9.

He had a cold & was very tired middle of last week, so I kept him at home on Thursday, but thought he was generally OK by bedtime thurs.
3 a.m. Friday morning he was sick (very, off a high cabin bed, yuk). So I gave him just water to drink, no food until about 5.pm, when he had some toast. was OK, went to bed fine.

Got up Saturday, feeling OK. got ready to go to cub camp, but before we got in the car, was sick again (about 9:30 a.m.). So stayed home, was a bit tired, but generally Ok.

Again nothing but toast for rest of Saturday.

Sunday a hint of diahorrea in the morning, but had a little breakfast cereal, no sickness. Was hungry mid afternoon, so gave him a small sandwich, which he kept down. then a little rice (cooked in stock for flavour) at about 6 pm. all fine, he went to bed OK.

Got up monday, feeling fine. Had breakfast, went off to school. Was sick again at 1:00 (first time since Saturday morning).
So I brought him home. By teatime he was hungry, so a very light tea, which stayed put until 1:30 this morning. Then he's had a slight bout of diarehorea this morning.

I'm confused by this

Got a Dr's appointment for later today of course, just wondered if any one else has had these symptoms?

Panicking now, as dh and I are booked for an expensive weekend away, which isn't cancellable, but I can't leave ds with my sis if he's ill.....

I think starvation is probably the answer - just small sips of water to keep him hydrated. Tummy is probably feeling a bit sensitive and every time it has to work on something says no thanks! Even if he says he's hungry, stick with water, or possibly flat lemonade which is a good one to stop them being dehyrdrated. I don't think the doctor will be able to help much, but worth going just in case......Fingers crossed he's better by the w/e.

When my dc's have tummy bugs, I get the anti-bacteria spray out and spray everything that doesn't move!!! I think that the bugs can live on handles, toys etc for a short length of time but it could be possible that he's getting re-infected all the time. At the very least, I feel as if I'm doing something and the house ends up a bit cleaner . I would also just stick to water for the time being. The doctor might prescribe Dioralyte but it's pretty yuck imo!

Back from Drs. It's just a virus that's doing the rounds apparently, characteristic of this one that it's "slow release". Generally, I assume tummy bugs being the violent, throwing up lots of times, but over in 3 days variety, altho it's not something I'm used to, I think this is only the second one I can remember ds having, we're not generally prone to these kind of things here.

Helsbels, I'm generally against the whole anti-bac spray thing, because I think long-term it damages your/your childs natural immunity and makes them more prone to pick up bugs in the outside world.
So here I clean well with hot-water, detergents, and the occasional addition of bleach for my worksurfaces & kitchen floor.

Ds doesn't need dioralyte (he's fighting fit, doesn't feel particularly unwell between sickies), cos he's only chucking up now and then anyway.

Glad it's nothing serious - something else someone once suggested to me (which I must admit I don't do, but sounds quite a good idea!). After a bug, or in our case throat infections, chuck the toothbrush......
